The CS-400E Machine History
CS-400A
Introduced in 1983, the first CS-400's had many of the features that have become synonymous with the CS-400 series. Features like: inward and outward clinching, dual spot projection, and self teach programming.
CS-400B
The 400B, launched in 1984, introduced the familiar ergonomic design that is still used today. In addition, the cut & clinch unit allowed users to mechanically adjust the length the leads would be cut, and the angle they would be clinched.
CS-400C
Released in 1986, the CS-400C featured a totally redesigned cut & clinch mechanism that utilized a miniature cutter footprint that has yet to be improved upon. Also, a newly designed projection microscope allowed more accurate digitizing, and enabled the machine to automatically compensate for board skew.
CS-400D
In 1990, the CS-400D introduced the patented Ultra Clinch mechanism, a breakthrough in cut and clinch technology that allows users to program the ideal lead length and clinch angle for each and every component. The Ultra Clinch mechanism automatically adjusts itself to the programmed clinch parameters "on the fly" as parts are inserted.
CS-400E
Now that the mechanical aspects of the machine were perfected, our engineers focused on user friendliness. The CS-400E, which made its debut in 1992, features a color touch screen monitor with an intuitive system of menus for user interface. This provided both ease of use, and enhanced display of operator information, such as part numbers and descriptions, text messages, circuit references, and even graphical images of components.
